Learning through the eyes of those who've been here
Real reflections from adults across Da Nang who chose to engage thoughtfully with their financial lives.

"Before the Digital Banking sessions, I would ask my daughter to transfer money for me because I was afraid of making a mistake. After three sessions with Bạch Liên, I manage everything myself. The facilitator never made me feel embarrassed for asking the same question twice."
"I enrolled in the Smart Spending course because I kept wondering whether our household finances were on track. The examples used were things I actually recognise from Vietnamese life — not abstract concepts from some other country. The spending journal has genuinely changed how I approach grocery decisions."
"The Holistic Wealth Awareness program was the most substantive learning I have done in years. It helped me think about insurance more clearly, and gave me language to have better conversations with my children about the future. The individual consultation sessions were particularly thoughtful."
"I was hesitant at first — money feels like something you shouldn't discuss with strangers. But the group was small and private, and it quickly became clear that nobody was going to ask about my personal accounts. I left the Smart Spending program with a clear framework for understanding debt that I now use every month."
"My husband and I both joined the Digital Banking sessions separately, and we then compared our printed reference cards at home. It opened up conversations about online security that we hadn't thought to have before. Very worthwhile — not just for learning, but for communicating with family."
"The 14-week program felt like a proper commitment, and I wasn't sure I would stick with it. I did, and I'm grateful. By the end I had a much clearer sense of how savings, property, and insurance all connect. The individual consultations helped me apply this specifically to my family's situation."
Participant Journeys
From anxiety to confidence: one participant's path with mobile banking
A 57-year-old retired teacher from Sơn Trà District had been avoiding her bank's mobile app for two years. She was worried about making errors that would affect her savings, and had been relying on her son to manage transfers.
She joined the Digital Banking Confidence Sessions with her own phone, following along with the facilitator's guidance. The small group meant she could ask questions without hesitation, and the printed reference card gave her something to return to at home.
Within two weeks of completing the program she was handling all her own mobile transfers, reviewing account statements monthly, and had shared the reference card's security tips with her neighbour.
"What I didn't expect was that understanding the app would make me feel less like a burden on my children. That feeling of independence was worth more than anything."
A clearer picture of debt: how one couple changed their approach to borrowing
A couple in their late 40s had accumulated several small loans over the years and felt uncertain about whether their approach to repayment was sensible. They had not spoken openly about household finances for years.
Both enrolled in the Smart Spending and Debt Awareness course, attending separate sessions at times that suited each of them. The use of anonymous local examples meant they could engage without exposing their own situation.
After completing the course, they held their first structured household finance conversation using the framework they had both learned. They consolidated two smaller loans and established a shared monthly review practice.
Preparing thoughtfully for retirement: a 14-week journey toward clarity
A 52-year-old business owner from Da Nang's Cẩm Lệ district had a solid income but no clear sense of how his existing savings, property, and limited insurance coverage fitted together for the future.
He joined the Holistic Wealth Awareness Program and engaged deeply with the reflective exercises. The four individual consultations were where he could ask questions specific to his situation, with the educator providing frameworks rather than prescriptions.
By week 14 he had a written overview of his financial picture, a clearer understanding of insurance types and what they covered, and a structured conversation with his children about intergenerational planning — something he had previously not known how to begin.
